My Blog

My Blog (28)

Here I will write about and share things I find interesting. Feel free to comment.

ad-for-network-3A new private membership organization for pet owners

This has been a project in the making for some time. I vision a safe place where pet owners interested in a natural approach to keeping their pets healthy can share their information without being attacked.

We all know the opposition from the majority of the allopathic field of medicine to using non-toxic natural modalities to help our pets live long healthy lives. Over the last 20 some years I have seen thousands of cases where a natural approach to help our pets restore their immune system have produced wonderful results. There is no doubt in my mind that there are options available that are non-toxic and reasonable.

I want a place where we can safely discuss these alternatives, test and share our experiences. I have a lot to share from my 20 years collecting data from my research projects.

Calling all animal lovers who want to make a difference.

I have reached a point where my projects will soon become unmanageable. I could sure use some help! I spend most of my day helping pets with cancer, and when time allows, entering new participants into my study. My goal is to add 10,000 dogs and 5,000 cats in 2017. I will document their lives on a raw food diet.

I also see a need to promote raw feeding in a different way. There is too much false information out there, and this makes it very confusing for new raw feeders to take the first step and begin raw feeding their pets. I want to end this confusion.

My research will document the benefits of raw feeding, and over time, it will gain traction as more valuable results come out of this 30-year study. In the meantime, I believe that we can do so much more.

For a long time now, I have wanted to create a special tribe of highly dedicated animal lovers who want to make a difference, and I have finally decided to start one. If you join now, you will have the option to give your input on what to call this group.

I am looking for people who understand that the way we handle pet care today is not beneficial to our pets. With over 50% of our dogs getting cancer, something is seriously wrong! As you know, pets today suffer from many other diseases too. This is unacceptable to me, and if you feel the same way, please join me in my effort to change this. We need to take action now! If you agree, I hope that you will consider joining this tribe. I know that you are out there; I see you on the forums of which I am a member. You have the passion and desire to help pet owners provide the best life possible for their pets. Do you feel like me sometimes, and wonder: “Am I making any difference? Are people listening?”

Definition of a tribe: a social division in a traditional society consisting of families or communities linked by social, economic, religious, or blood ties, with a common culture and dialect, typically having a recognized leader.

In our tribe, our goal is to improve the health of our pets by educating pet owners on information that we have deemed well-documented, and more importantly, harmless to our pets when used in a responsible way.

The issue I see is that we all want to help and make a difference, but individually, we can only do so much. The strength of any message or cause lies in numbers. When I see someone post a question on these forums, and people with great knowledge respond repeatedly with the same solutions, that — to me, at least — appears powerful and convincing.

The strength of any message or cause lies in numbers

I never ask anyone to believe me when I voice my opinions on these forums. I encourage pet owners who are asking questions about their dog’s or cat’s health to do their research. I often guide them to sources I trust so that they can read and make up their opinions. Many do their research and scan the internet for information, but there are two sides to this. The internet is a fantastic source of good information, but it also contains a great deal of bad information. How does someone new to raw feeding — someone who is curious about treating their pets with natural remedies, and has questions about vaccinations, flea treatments, and heart worm medications — sort this all out? It is not easy! The internet is full of contradictions and misinformation.

I would like to create a source for all this, a source that people can trust because it is vetted by knowledgeable people. I would like to have a group of pet owners who can help me conduct research on the protocols, products, and natural treatment options found online. As a group, we will validate and vote on what we recommend, and create an archive of resources that pet owners can access and study.

That is one important project that I would like to start.

Others are:

1. A monthly newsletter featuring the benefits of raw feeding and using natural protocols to prevent common diseases and health conditions. Inform people that there are alternatives to drugs and medication when it comes to preventing and treating common health issues. One important aspect of this is to educate pet owners on why the current symptom-based healthcare model is not working. I am not out to bash anyone, but I would like to share information on effective treatment and prevention methods that are proven to be healthy for dogs and cats. The problem we run into is that very little research, and very few studies, are conducted on natural products. Sorting out what is trustworthy reporting and what is not is a major challenge.

My study is starting to produce some very interesting observational results. I try to collect as much information as possible in each case in order to make my study as trustworthy as possible without being scientific. I think that there is tremendous value in these cases, and my goal is to eventually get funded in order to upgrade to true scientific studies. Most scientific studies stem from of observational studies that indicated strong trends of consistent, replicable results. Most of my cases can be replicated as well. This will also be a unique opportunity for you to get access to what work on when it comes to protocols, products, and cancer treatment options. I generally do not share this.

2. Promote my study and encourage more pet owners to join me with their pets. Become a recruiter. It is all about numbers. As I mentioned earlier, I want to follow a pool of 10,000 dogs and 5,000 cats. If this study produces consistent longer lives and a dramatic reduction in cancer rates, then something is going on, and someone will take notice. It will be impossible to ignore these findings.

3. Help create Facebook campaigns that promote raw feeding. I will pay for these. I'm referring to 'poster ads' with catchy slogans.

4. Help make raw feeding videos, help with Q&A-type webinars.

5. Help with writing, rewriting, and proofreading.

I am planning on using a software called Basecamp where we can collaborate as a tribe. It is a project-type software that makes managing multiple projects easy. After I approve your application, I will invite you to join. I encourage pet owners from all over the world to participate. I would love to see an international tribe.

I hope that we can have weekly or monthly video conferences where we get to know each other and brainstorm ideas. My goal is to become a close-knit group of good friends, and to stay together for a long time. The goal is to become the best online resource for raw feeding.

I am in the process of exploring funding options for my research, including a research center on my property. In this proposal, I have included compensation for contributors. At this time, I cannot compensate anyone for their contributions, but I hope to change this once I receive proper funding. I am asking for a lot, I know, but I also know that some of you will do this for the cause, without asking for anything in return. Eventually, I will be able to thank those people and compensate them. I am confident that as my study grows and gains notoriety, funds will increase, and I will be able to share this with you.

If you believe in my cause and would like to support this tribe, and join the fight for our beloved pets’ health and longevity, please fill out an application, and I will get back to you with more information. I would like to talk to everyone who is interested on the phone, or using voice Skype if you live outside the U.S., Canada or Mexico.

Adding 4000 dogs and 2000 cats!

camelot-and-kiki-2I don't know what I'm thinking! I'm already stretched to the limit with what I currently do. But this is why.

I know what it takes to keep a dog healthy. It all starts with the food. I now have over 100 dogs in my study that feed some form of a raw food diet. I have no doubt that these dogs will live longer than they would on a commercial pet food diet. I get an increasing number of request for help from pet owners with dog and cats that have cancer. Every single one of the has been on a kibble fed diet. It breaks my heart every time I meet one. The pain and heartbreak these owners go through I can relate too since I have been there.

Knowing that this can be avoided is difficult since I can't get the word out to everyone. That is one of the reasons I started this study. To show that the current statistic of 50-60% of all dogs get cancer does not apply to the group on this project. It can not be explained away and contributed to anything else that the food. What of I had 5000 dogs and 2000 cats to compare with? That will be even more convincing right? So that's what I'm doing since I know I will regret it for the rest of my life if I don not upgrade my study to these numbers.

In the photo on the right is my 'long living study inspiration' Camelot II, (9). He is as healthy as he's ever been and keeps up with his little brother Odin (4). Behind him is Kiki a feral cat that Odin found in the yard almost dead, 3 years ago. She is the friendliest cat I ever met. Raw fed since a few weeks old. No vaccinations.

I have updated my book and it now includes how to get your cat started on a raw food diet.

COVER-NEW-6-21-15-3-500wAfter many requests on how to switch or start a cat on a raw food diet I have finally finished this addition to my book.

The process is very similar so instead of writing a new book just for cats I decided to include this in my originally book.

I will soon start adding cats to my study and I hope to have 500 by the end of this year. I believe raw fed cast can live into their mid 20s and even longer. I'm very excited to study this. I have two cats that have been weaned to raw and they are doing very well.

I also believe that the incidents of cancer and other diseases in cats will be greatly reduced on a raw food diet.

Thomas Sandberg - The Long Living Pets Research ProjectKetogenic and Raw Food Diets Help Dogs and Cats Live Longer and Fight Cancer

The ketogenic diet has been shown to help manage a variety of diseases, including epilepsy and cancer in both mice and humans. But researcher Thomas Sandberg says the ketogenic diet can also help dogs and cats live longer as well as prevent and combat cancer.

Sandberg, an animal activist and founder of Long Living Pets Research in Oakley, Utah, has been studying the use of the low-carb, grain-free ketogenic and raw food diets to enhance the longevity and health of dogs for the past 15 years.

Ketogenic Raw Food Diet Helps Dogs and Cats Fight Cancer And Live Longer

Keto Reverses Cancer and Boosts Longevity

, June 16th, 2015
Studies show the low-carb, high-fat ketogenic diet can combat epilepsy and cancer in mice and humans, but animal researcher Thomas Sandberg says the keto diet can reverse cancer in dogs and cats and help them live significantly longer.

Sandberg, founder and CEO of Long Living Pets Research in Oakley, Utah, said his 15 years of research indicates a raw, grain-free ketogenic diet dramatically boosts longevity for dogs and cats.

Sandberg, who launched his 30-year research project in 2000, has been tracking the health of 1,000 dogs around the world.

27 Oct 2014

I wanted to thank everyone that have signed up for this project. I'm behind in getting everyone registered and approved. This is a full time job for me and there is just not enough hours in the day to get everything done.

I was hoping for more donations to this project,  I allocated more time to helping people with pets that have cancer. I have overestimated the desire to donate for these projects so I have to go back to work. This will slow down on my entries and limit the number of pets I can help that have cancer. At this time I can no longer take on more dogs with cancer. I'm so very sorry for this. I hope this i temporally.

Thanks again to all.

We have received several hundred new participants and I'm behind getting their pages up and posting them to our Facebook page.

I'm also planning the 2015 road trip to promote Long Living Pets Research Projects, raw feeding and recruit more participants. More about this in a day or two.

We have had some beautiful weather here and we all enjoy our two daily walks.

9-9-14-6

We still need more raw fed dogs to join this study: You can register your dog(s) here.

After having researched raw feeding and also done it with my dogs for 15 years, I'm ready to move to Phase 2.

Over the next few months, I hope to add 1000 dogs that feed raw to my project. I will follow these dogs for the next 15 years plus. This should produce evidence beyond any doubt that raw feeding is superior to any other food. The most interesting result that will come from this is the rate of cancer incidents. Currently, 1 out of 4 dogs get cancer. I think this is higher since everyone is not reporting this. The number is closer to 50%, even more in my opinion. Of the 1000 dogs on this project according to statistics, 500 of them will die from cancer. No way that will happen. It will be closer to 0 % I suspect. Even if it was 10% it would be amazing! Can you imagine what that would do? That will, in fact, prove that cancer is completely related to food and therefore must be a vitamin and enzyme deficiency disease! I can't wait to see how the medical profession and the big pharma will respond to that.

I need your help to spread the word. Please if you know of anyone feeding raw share this with them.

There is not much involved. They need to register their dog(s). Then there is an update once a year with a short status report. That's all.

I finally got around to finish my little book.

book-cover-1-600w-1This book is for anyone who is sitting on the fence and wanting to switch their dog to a raw food diet yet are unsure how to do it. Maybe there is an element of fear or perhaps you are confused by the conflicting information online and in other books. Everything I describe in this book has been tested on my own dogs, and many others, over the last 15 years. This is a beginner’s guide to raw feeding that will provide you with all the information you need to get started. In purchasing this book, you also gain personal access to me. My book is finally done and coming out this or next week. This project took longer than expected. I also get many more request for help. Something have to change!

book-cover-1-600w-1

Many have asked me when is my book coming out. I'm pleased to say that I have finished writing it. It is now at the editors. I hope to have it all done by the end of this month.

It's a two part book.

The first part will focus on getting all those that are sitting on the fence not sure how to get started feeding raw to actually do it. I know there are thousands out there that have heard about raw feeding but unsure how to implement it. I'm making this an easy process so many more pets will benefit from their owners switching to raw.

The second part

This part will focus on natural cancer prevention and cures. It will be controversial for some but I hope it will open the eyes of many that fear their pets will get cancer. 4 out of 10 (I believe it is more) pets die of cancer. This has to stop! I firmly believe I can change this dramatically and it will not cost you more than 10 cent a day and it's all natural. I know it sounds crazy but this claim comes from my experience with cancer in pets over the last 15 years,

If you want to be notified about my book's arrival please cick on the tab you see on the left side and I will send you an email when it is ready. This is not obligation to buy it.

All proceeds from this book will go to finance my research project.

Twice a day our pack is served a meal of raw meats and bones. Sure it takes time, but I know how beneficial this for their health and longevity.

I'm pleased to report that Kiki is back to her normal self. She's eating good and playing with Freya.

This cat is very special to me since it is my first. She is also raw fed like my dogs and my other cat Freya. She has never scratched me or done anything unpredictable. Just a kind loving kitten.

Kiki scare

18 Feb 2014

kiki-1I just went through a scary episode with my cat Kiki. She started vomiting every 3-4 hrs on Saturday. This continued on Sunday and she also stopped eating. I assumed she had some sort of blockage.

We went to the vet on Monday and could not see anything definite on the xrays. But there was an indication of something close to the entrance of her small intestines. She had no fever but acted lethargic.

I took her home to monitor her and see if I could get her to eat. She was just laying around and did not want to eat. We went back to the vet on Tuesday to test if there were any blockage.

The vet called me back later that day and said there must be a blockage and he wanted to perfrom a surgery to make sure. Kiki went through surgery that night and the vet found a piece of cloth 2x6 inches stuck in her intestines.

Kiki came back the day after and is now recovering very nicely. She started to eat small peieces of meat the second day. It's Friday today and  she still does not eat normally but she eats a little more each time. I'm sure she will be back to normal in a few days. I'm glad I cought this early, she is only 1 1/2 year old and very dear to me. This is my first cat. Odin my great dane found her.

All my life i have been a dog person. We had cats at home and I did like them but never thought I would have one myself. I now have two rescue cats. They were both found by my young dane Odin on a cold early winter evening about one year apart. Kiki was the first one, a tiny wet skinny kitten just a few weeks old. She would not have survived that night if Odin had not found her in the corner of my yard. About a year later he found Frya another skinny wet little kitten also just a few weeks old. Again he saved a life.

I now adore these two best friends. Seeing them grow up both on raw (of course) had been a great learning experience into the world og cats.

kiki-freya-pack-1

It was time to update my old website to a more functional site. I decide to go with Joomla since I have some experience with it, but it was 6 years ago. Much have changed with Joomla. One thing is the K2 category extension which makes making categories much easier and very well suited for my project.

I totally underestimated how much work was involved and it took me much longer that first anticipated. Now, after having everything set up it will be much easier to maintain. I can now give each participant on my project access to their own pages. This will make updates much easier and I can expand with more participants.

My goal is to have 200 pets on my project. I have expanded it to include all sizes and breeds.

Disclaimer

Disclaimer: I'm not a medical professional and the advices I provide are based on 18 years of private research and personal experience with raw feeding and different natural remedies for keeping dogs cancer free. I always recommend seeing a professional veterinarian (preferable a holistic) if you suspect any health issues with your pet.

I lost a dog to cancer and I was determined to never let that happen again, which is why I share this information. Too many pets die from cancer and I know it can be prevented in most cases and many lives can be saved.

All I want in return is your story. I'm building an archive of success stories that will hopefully show other pet owners that there is a natural approach to beating and preventing cancer.

If you decide to follow what I suggest, you do this entirely at your own risk.

T.S.

Please Read

Over the last 18 years, I have helped pet owners make the switch to raw food and I’ve helped owners that have pets with cancer to beat the disease using a natural method.

I have built up a reputation and the sheer number of owners that need help has become overwhelming. I'm doing this alone and I'm spending every free minute of my free time helping pets so they can live long, healthy lives; that's my life mission.

Sadly, I have to limit the ones I help. It breaks my heart to do so because I know what a horrible feeling it is to have a pet with cancer – I have been there. I am only able to help the ones that take part in my research project. My research and the documentation of the benefits of raw feeding, plus the many stories about how alternative natural cancer treatments and prevention

I need your help so I can continue helping you.

A plea for your help!te-6-24-1

I don't like doing this but my love and passion for helping pets are too strong to not ask. I need your help to keep these three one-of-a-kind and very important projects going. Also several have told me: "If you don't ask and share nobody will know. There are many out there that love pets that will support you in your mission to make our pets live longer and reduce the risk of cancer"

  1. The raw feeding project will prove dogs thrive on a carnivore diet. My experience from the first 20 years confirms that I'm on track to fundamentally change how we look at dog food. I just need more time. The goal is to follow 5000 dogs and 2000 cats for 15 more years. The results will produce evidence of amazing health benefits and in many cases a significantly longer lifespan. This will shake the commercial dog food world, and hopefully force the pet food companies to make better food designed for dogs.
  2. The cancer project will prove that the risk for a dog getting cancer is reduced dramatically when fed the right food. The results of feeding dogs the food they are designed for will shatter all current statistics when it comes to cancer incidents in dogs. Raw fed dogs are close to cancer-proof when fed low amounts of carbs and higher amounts of fat and protein.  My study will prove this somewhat incredible statement.
  3. Natural cancer cure project. I have for many years helped pets suffering from cancer recover and beat it using natural products that cost a fraction of traditional treatments and are in almost every case more effective. I'm building a case file of 200 successful cases, cancer-free for more than 3- 5 years after being beating cancer.

Every day I get several requests from devastated pet owners that need help with their beloved dogs suffering from cancer. Unfortunately, I can't help everyone. I just do not have time. Between work, family and taking care of my pets there is not enough time to help them all. This is very unfortunate and extremely upsetting to me. I lost a dog to cancer and I will never forget the emotional suffering and pain involved in watching my dearest friend losing that battle. I understand what you all are going through and in pains me not being able to help more dogs.

With donations, I can take on less work and dedicate more time to my projects that will eventually help millions of pets. I want to share my findings for cancer prevention and natural cures so more pet owners will see that there are other options. The current statistic of close to 70% of dogs getting cancer is unacceptable to me. I'm on a mission to reduce this dramatically.

For 20 years I financed this myself and I have plain and simple run out of funds. I had to take on more work and spend less time on what I have dedicated my life to do: Help pets live longer healthier lives.

If you have any suggestion or ideas on how to raise funds for this project please let me know.
